The Airlines.

http://news.medill.northwestern.edu/uploadedImages/News/Chicago/Images/Business/Furlough.jpg
I was reading a blog Byrd in the Sky, I read frequently today and he had a new topic on furlough. I read the whole thing and yet although I knew the airline job market is a nasty one I never thought it was as cut-throat like that. I love the airlines and I cant Waite to try them out. Its just will their be room for me when I'm finally qualified? Will it be worth it?
Thanks and Until Next Time,
Ian

WELL IM HOME!!!!

Sadly I'm already home got home about 10:30 last night. All I can think about is the airlines its like having a cookie you have one and you tell yourself ah I wont have another but then you just keep wanting more. For some reason I want the whole jar .... If you get what I'm talking about. Ya well the flight over to Detroit from Columbus on the way there was pretty good a quicky about 40 minutes on a CRJ200. Then from Detroit to Portland was a fun one also was a pretty brisk flight. We flew on a CRJ900 that time. Those CRJ900"s are beautiful I can only imagine the 1000's.
Yep so anyway after we got done with the flight I visited the cockpit the captain was out doing a walk around while i was looking so I didn't get to talk to him the FO was there but he wasn't to friendly. But that was the first time Ive ever seen an actual cockpit up close. So then we spent the weekend at my Uncles house in Kennebunk, Maine. Had fun spending time with my little little cousin. And my uncle is as funny as always went to his improv comedy show on Saturday. Then Sunday rolls around. we get ready to depart to the airport. Hugs and Kisses go around and were off. A little 30 minute gaunt drive to the airport and we literally are in the terminal waiting at the gate right when we enter the airport..... (its that small).
Finally the boarding starts we get on and of course i have a window seat! Like always my eyes are glued outside. We takeoff in the CRJ900 and about an hour and a half or so we are on the ground at Detroit. De board take the long walk from end to end to the next gate. Waite for the the DC-9 to get prepped. I was excited cause i think DC-9's are so freaking cool ha. So we board and there was like no one on the flight so I scootched over to the window. Windows Seat Again o so lucky ha. Then on the quick 30 minute trip from Detroit to Columbus we see if it was possible to check that cockpit out. They were so happy I asked and said that would be awesome. So Then at the end of the trip i waited to be one of the last off the plane. And got to talk to the Captain and FO. Real nice guys and gave me some great advice and encouragement on the tough road ahead of me. So that was my experience of the weekend I'm flying on United in June cant Waite....... PICTURES OF THE TRIP COMING SOON.

Thanks and Until Next Time,
Ian

Wow is that Grease on the Runway?

Today i went into the hanger thinking we were going to us the new Flight Simulator. But o was I wrong. Today luckily was a beautiful day for flying. When we were taxing to runway 18 there was a emergency jet. I didn't think it had anything on it just coming to get something or someone. So we taxied past then let him through and turned around. Real quick check before takeoff and took off. we did two patterns at the beginning my first landing was rough. Then it got better my second time. after that we proceeded to do S-turns and Steep Turns. which went well and then entered the pattern twice more. The first pattern I was on o what a great approach it was then when i was decently close to greasing the land my instructor said Go-Around. He did this as practice for me to know what to do we talked about it earlier that lesson. So we did one more pattern and I did a pretty good landing and called it a day.
Thanks and Until Next Time,
Ian
